The company Spezial Gummiprodukte GmbH (SGP) was founded in 2002 by Clyde Lock and Andreas Rubahn in Saarbrücken with the aim of establishing a qualitative alternative to previous suppliers of natural rubber products in Europe. The company was able to establish itself on the market through technically high-quality products and the development of the main competencies of consulting, delivery and fabrication. The first customers were initially vulcanizers, who were urgently looking for alternatives for high-quality wear protection due to the constantly rising raw material prices.
The company knew how to operate mostly in small niche markets, to build up distribution channels and from there to test further markets. In the meantime, SGP supplies the most diverse areas of industry and technical trade. The special properties of natural rubber are particularly convincing in mechanical engineering, the recycling industry, dust seal protection and vibration control technology. Since then, wear protection products for various applications have been developed under the RUTEC® brand.

Since 2005, SGP has also been supplying and testing natural rubber products for the security sector.
The first test took place at the 'Landesamt für Zentrale Polizeiliche Dienste Nordrhein-Westfalen. (LZPD). In this test, the material was used as splinter protection to absorb bullet splinters or fragments and was able to impress with its excellent reclosure properties and high durability. The company took this as an opportunity to expand its product range for shooting systems and adapt it to the needs of the authorities. With the first positive test results from the police, the company expanded its popularity with the authorities. The certification of the splinter protection system by the German armed forces also opened up the possibility of supplying products for military shooting ranges. Thanks to modern production options and reliable partners, we are able to realize individual customer requests at short-term. To ensure our high quality standards, we have our products tested regularly. The practical test is carried out by shooting authorities, shooting range experts (SSV) or external companies that are specialized in the field of ballistics.
